Concrete Spalling and Surface Deterioration

Concrete spalling, the flaking and breaking away of the surface layer, is often triggered or worsened by underlying slab movement. When a slab settles unevenly the resulting flexural stress cracks the surface and accelerates freeze-thaw penetration into exposed aggregate. Resurfacing spalled concrete on top of a settled slab provides only temporary improvement because the movement continues. Correcting the slab settlement through concrete leveling removes the stress causing the surface breakdown, creating a stable base for any surface repair work.
