Horizontal Crack Mid-Height on a Long Foundation Wall

A single continuous horizontal crack running mid-height across a long foundation wall is the signature failure pattern of lateral soil pressure exceeding the wall's flexural capacity. It is most common on the uphill side of a sloped NJ lot or where driveway runoff concentrates against the foundation.

Below two inches of associated deflection the wall can be stabilized with carbon fiber straps spaced at engineered intervals. Above two inches, steel beams or wall reconstruction may be required. Early intervention preserves options.
