Patching Materials and Expected Service Life
Scaldino Basement Solutions selects patching materials and techniques based on the specific defect condition. Hairline cracks and cracks up to three-eighths of an inch wide are cleaned with a wire brush and vacuum, primed with a bonding agent, and filled with a flexible polyurethane or epoxy crack filler that accommodates minor slab movement without debonding. Spalled areas and pop-outs, where the surface layer of concrete has delaminated, are chipped back to sound, clean substrate, primed, and filled with polymer-modified cementitious mortar that bonds to both the substrate and the surrounding intact surface. For injection port patches after a polyjacking or mudjacking project, we carry a range of hydraulic cement and color-tinted mortar products that allow us to match the port patch color to the surrounding concrete surface as closely as possible.
