Does underpinning require a permit and engineered drawings in NJ?

Yes. Underpinning is regulated under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code structural subcode and requires a building permit, sealed engineering drawings prepared by a New Jersey-licensed professional engineer, and inspections at the excavation, reinforcing, and concrete phases.

Scaldino handles the full permitting chain, including engineer selection, drawing submission to the municipal construction department, and coordination of subcode inspections. This is not a do-it-yourself service category.
