How long does a basement door installation take?

A basement door replacement on an existing opening typically takes one to two days, including removal of the old unit, installation of the new frame and doors, and concrete collar work if needed. The site is clean and functional by the end of the second day.

A new installation where no opening currently exists takes longer because it includes foundation wall cutting, framing the new opening with a structural lintel, forming and pouring a concrete entry collar, installing steps if not already present, and completing the drainage around the well. This scope typically takes three to five days depending on site conditions.

Permit timing affects the overall schedule. NJ municipalities vary in permit processing time from a few days to several weeks. Scaldino Basement Solutions submits permit applications early in the project planning phase to minimize wait time. Contact us to discuss your timeline.
