Carbon fiber itself does not corrode, rot, or fatigue under sustained static load, so the structural service life of the strap is effectively permanent provided the epoxy bond to the concrete remains intact. The two-part structural epoxies used in this application are rated for a service life in excess of seventy-five years under dry, stable basement conditions.

The failure mode is almost never the carbon fiber itself. The typical cause of compromise is moisture intrusion behind the strap that attacks the epoxy bond, which is why interior waterproofing is frequently specified as a companion service on New Jersey installations.
